Adonai Centre of Excellence (A.C.E.)

Adonai Centre of Excellence was birthed initially from a desire to develop young musicians within our local church and then God inspired us to make it a community based program, offering tutorship to people from any walk in life. The name Adonai was chosen because the whole ‘ethos’ of the music school will be God-centered and God focused and we wanted to be guided by the precepts and principles of the Bible.

The Music School is to provide training and development in the art of Music and is set up as a Non-profit organization geared towards reaching and engaging with the community.

The Music School operates from church premises at Church of God of Prophecy ,2 Tudor Road, Easton, Bristol BS5 6BW.

Vision

The music school is God-Centred and God-focused and is bringing together the immediate and wider community. The music school is geared towards the community and currently offers tutorship in Bass guitar, Keyboards, Drums and the Acoustic Guitar at a very affordable rate. We offer tutoring to people of regardless of age, religious or socio-economic background and do not discriminate against any individual who desires to learn to play one of the afore-mentioned core instruments. Our syllabuses offer lessons from beginners to intermediate focusing on the rudiments of music and learning to play by ear.

Progress

The Music School started on the 23rd of January 2010 with 3 students and we have grown to the stage where we now have 15 students enrolled. The age group ranges from a low of 5 years old to a high of 40 and the breakdown of the students by instrument is:-

Classes are held on a on a Saturday from 11.00am to 3.00pm with most sessions being held simultaneously under the guidance of 4 tutors using a variety of techniques, practical demonstrations, video/audio presentations and worksheets to name a few.

Cost

The lessons cost £10 per session with 50% of this being currently subsidized by the Church. In essence students are required to pay £30 in total which covers a term of 6 weeks. We are very grateful to have received a grant of £2500 from the Chrysalis Grant which has helped us tremendously in making the lessons affordable and I will make special mention of Helen Harrison for her prompt, professional and timely intervention.

Please feel free to drop in or contact us at anytime using the below contact details as we seek to continue to engage with the community and provide affordable music lessons to the community at large.
