Biblefresh day a great successbiblefreshlogo 1

Bristol Cathedral and College Green was the setting for the Festival of the Word on Sunday 22 May, a special ecumenical celebration to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Version of the Bible as part of Biblefresh. Despite early rain and near gale force winds hundreds of people came out to enjoy the day.

See the Diocese of Bristol website here for a full account of the day and a gallery of photos.

Roughshod Theatre Group, Springs Dance Company, Lacey Theatre company gave vivid, inspiring performances that brought “the Word” to life and a variety of speakers including, Steve Finamore, Ann Holt, Howard Mellor, Nicholas King, Rob Cotton, Luke Walton and Dave Bankhead challenged us to re-engage creatively with the bible.

The creative theme was enhanced by the presence of one of the UK’s only iconographers, John Coleman, alongside art displays from Swindon and Vietnam the Movie.

Visitors took away new ideas for mission and celebration to share in their own congregations, and the whole afternoon was encapsulated in a wonderful service in the cathedral. Music, song, dance, drama and even juggling sent us away with a smile on our faces and a spring in our steps.
