In response to concerns about the quality of care in some institutions by the Patient’s Association and CQC, Professor Ruud ter Meulen, Director of the Centre for Ethics in Medicine, Bristol University will address the question – “What has happened to patient care in the UK?”
Wednesday 18th January 2012 at the newly restored St James Priory, next to Bristol Bus Station. Prayer from 7pm, Refreshments from 7.20pm, Meeting starts 7.45pm.

Leaving Bristol to volunteer with Mercy Ships
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have resigned from my job as a consultant anaesthetist at Bristol Children's Hospital in order to volunteer fulltime for the charity Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships operates the world's largest charity hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. Based in West Africa the Africa Mercy visits poor countries at the invitation of the host nations government, usually for approximately 8-10 months, and delivers healthcare free of charge. There are 6 operating theatres, 4 wards and small ICU and even a CT scanner on board, enabling specialised life-changing surgeries to be performed. Mercy Ships aims to bring hope and healing, because without such surgeries, there is little hope for those that need help.
