On Saturday 8 December, Bristol based Renewal Choir launches its debut album titled “What He Started”. This project draws its inspiration from the rich diversity of backgrounds, ages and abilities which make up Renewal’s unique character. The launch promises to be a power packed evening to have you dancing, singing, jumping and leaping with excitement with songs being performed from the album sprinkled with a little Christmas cheer.

As a community gospel choir Renewal felt it was important to create an uplifting and moving musical recording of songs drawn from the talents of local people from ordinary backgrounds to reflect issues, highs and lows we can all related to. “What He Started” marks the culmination of an incredible journey of innovation, inspiration and hard work using state-of-the-art mobile recording technology to record choir vocals in a humble South Bristol Community Centre under threat of closure.

The album’s producer Darren Poole of Abandon Music Recordings has pulled out all the stops to ensure the finished product oozes with excellence and vitality. For added lift and impact several musical collaborators have added their mark to the project to ensure the highly desirable outcome Renewal Choir has been able to achieve.

Choir Director Kim Samuels said, “It’s one thing to dream about making an album but it’s an entirely different matter when it comes to translating the warm and fuzzy aspiration into the completed article that you can feel proud of. Anyone who comes to the album launch will be treated to an extraordinary experience of local people performing some very special singing”
