Temporary Accommodation is becoming an urgent problem in Bristol as the cost of living crisis continues to exacerbate the already urgent housing crisis. In the last ten years, the number of households living in temporary accommodation has increased by 96%. In November 2021, there were reported to be 970 households in Temporary Accommodation in Bristol. In October 2022, according to HomeChoice Bristol, this number is now more than 1100 households. And, like many homelessness figures, these are anticipated to underestimate actual levels of demand, as they only include those presenting themselves as homeless.  The supply of high-quality affordable homes is critical if Local Authorities are to stop spending billions on poor-quality, temporary accommodation. We're currently working with Akerlof on research commissioned by Boklok UK to quantify the impact on families moving from temporary to settled accommodation, as well as the Social Return on Investment. If you work with these families, please help us to make the case for more social housing by filling in the survey below.
