“A win’s not a win unless we win together” - words from Stephen, our 15K Tough Mudder runner, who raised an incredible £450 for our NO ONE LEFT OUT campaign this month.

“There’s truly nothing like Tough Mudder. Everyone was helping each other over every obstacle, cheering each other on. What I experienced out there perfectly reflected the heart of the NO ONE LEFT OUT campaign — it’s not about being the first to finish but about looking back and lending a hand to someone who’s struggling. Because it isn’t really a win if we don’t win together.”

Celebrating 40 years of Oasis

This month we celebrated 40 years of Oasis with an anniversary event at Oasis Waterloo. Three hundred people (as many as we could fit in the building!) gathered to look back on four decades of building stronger communities, where there is NO ONE LEFT OUT. We are more committed than ever before to create a world where everyone belongs.

A chance at childhood

“We stand before you today not just as students, but as witnesses to the silent struggles of young people in our community trapped in poverty. Poverty is an economic issue. It is a cycle that suffocates ambition, crushes potential, and makes even the simplest aspects of home life unbearable.”

These powerful words were spoken by one of our Oasis Academy Lords Hill students in Parliament at the launch of our report on Child Poverty, in partnership with The Children’s Society. The report offers recommendations to a ministerial taskforce working on a child poverty strategy to improve the life chances of young people.

Our message is simple: to eliminate child poverty we need to invest in joined-up, holistic support that cares for the whole lives of children, not just the time they spend in school. In other words, we need to invest in youth hubs.
