Food banks will always be there for anyone who needs them - but together we're working to build a UK where no one is forced to rely on them. And thanks to your support, we're already making real, historic change.

Our shared voice is changing the social security system.

Here's what you have made possible:

  1. The two-child limit will be lifted from April 2026, lifting 670,000 people including 470,000 children, out of severe hardship.

  1. For the first time since it was introduced, the basic rate of Universal Credit will see a higher than inflation increase in every year of this parliament, a core ask of our Guarantee our Essentials campaign.

  1. Deductions from Universal Credit have been cut from 25% to 15% - following calls from our Guarantee our Essentials campaign - putting nearly £40 a month back in people's pockets due to the new Fair Repayment Rate.
  1. The UK government committed to £1bn of funding over three years for a new Crisis and Resilience Fund delivered by English local authorities, shaped using evidence from food banks in the Trussell community.
Alongside our campaign wins, there are wider positive policy changes from the UK government that will make a real difference for the people that our community of food banks support:
  1. Housing: Reforms to renters' rights including a ban on no-fault evictions, and restrictions on rent increases.
  2. Work: £1bn of additional funding for disability employment support, £270m for a Youth Guarantee, and a new 'right to try' work for disabled people.
  3. Free School Meals: From April, all children in households on Universal Credit will receive free school meals, lifting 240,000 people out of severe hardship.
  4. Breakfast clubs: Funding for the expansion of breakfast clubs to all primary schools in England.
  5. Energy bills: The £150 Warm Homes Discount has extended to an additional 2.7m households each year.
